The Bridgend and Distrit pool league is affiliated to the Welsh Pool Association and plays UK Blackball Rules
The league has 35 teams this Winter season, which will run between the
end of September 2015 and June 2016. The league currently has 320 players, divided into 3 divisions .
Premiership, Division 1 and division 2
The standard of pool within the league varies from teams that contain both current and former international players
and those who simply enjoy a game of pool on a Thursday night in good company.
The teams play in licensed premises throughout the Borough of Bridgend and neighbouring districts.
The website has tabs at the top which will open up league tables, and current competition entries.
There is a League Facebook page "Bridgend Pool League" where anyone
interested in joining a current team can find further information about the league.

END OF SEASON
After another great season of pool, we've come to the end of the winter league,
with some great relegation and promotion battles,
making the league exciting and tense all together.
Now the league has introduced the new app, it's become even more exciting seeing
all the live updates and online score completion,
a massive push forward for the Bridgend Pool League,
and we hope that it will be used in good spirit and continue to be used for the future seasons.
It has been announced and made very clear in all of the meetings including and following the the first mention
of the new app that ALL RESULT SHEETS are still to be sent into the fixture secretary as the app was only on trial,
this is still to continue throught the summer league and perhaps the winter of next year just to be on the safe side
incase something happens to the app and we cannot retrieve the results. This is a must for all teams and points
WILL NOT be given if a late result is received.
TOURNAMENTS WITHIN THE APP
The app as you are well aware is still under trial at the moment and we are testing it to see if it is capable of
running all of our tournaments in sequences relevant to the schedules like it has been for the last 3 years of the
leagues tournaments, should we be able to use the app for this then each and every person entering the tournaments
will be asked for a PASSCODE, not a PASSWORD, each passcode will be linked to the app and when you log in with a passcode
you will be redirected to your account and your opponent will have the game on their PHONE/DEVICE also.
I will be looking into the point scoring system of our ranking points to see if we can adhere it into the app,
#its a bit complex to say the least and will cause a few problems, but i dont think its that much of a problem at this stage.
Hopefully we can intergrate the app into the league fully by the end of the winter next year and completely do away with any paperwork
but we need to take things slowly as to not make mistakes as one slight misshap with the setup can wipe the lot out,
also I would like to point out that like you, I am also still learning about this and it isnt just a straight forward proceedure to do,
so if there are little misshaps or you can see an error, please feel free to let me know, as im far from perfect.
At the end of the Winter League you are well aware that our Summer League starts very soon after,
This year Summer starts on the 13th of July, we have a total of 16 teams entered and the fixtures have already been made
to be uploaded to the website and hard copies will be made to hand out to those who are incapable of using the website.
I hope that the summer season is as fun and as competitive as the previous years, and on behalf of the BDPL I would like
to wish you the very best of luck for the coming season...
WINTER LEAGUE REGISTRATION AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Winter League Registration falls on the 12th of September 2017 at 19:00 as always, followed by the AGM then at 20:00
As most of you are well aware, The AGM is held for us to make/discuss changes
to the Constitution and/or Committee Posts.
If you would like to become a part of the Committee then please send an email to
a week prior to the meeting specifying what you could
offer to the pool league should you be awarded the post.
If you would like to ADD/contest something in the pool league or the Constitution then also
a letter will be required and will only be read out in your presence.
Once the AGM has finished, then no further changes can be adhered to the league until the next AGM, however under Special Circumstances an EGM can be called and
thus becomes an AGM, only then will any changes be made that will have to be adhered to.
